A meteorite of approx 6 billion tons hit near here over 200 million years ago, digging itself a crater of more than 20 km in diameter, in the center of which was Rochechouart, Chassenon and Pressignac (16) were the points of impact being up to 4 km to the west of Rochechouart. Stones from the impact, known as "br?ches" , were used for the construction of many buildings.

In 1818, the Mathusalem deacon made gift with l'Saint-Etienne church of Limoges of the "Carentenago" who became the parish church. Stronghold of Mirabeau during the XVIIIth century. Ruins of the extremely medieval castle turn XVth century. Romane church XIth, increased in size into the XIIIth Century.





While stopping to visit the borough, you realize that its houses surround its church, There remain nothing any more but undergrounds dug in the tuff and which are not worth visiting.

Construction started in the XIth century, the gate and are bolt added to XIIIth, and the two side chapels are XVIIIth, above the arc triumphal, is painted with the weapons of Roussiers and Ferri?res-Sauveboeuf,, lords of Ch?ronnac at the XVIIe century.
